Mulch is one of the most important aspects of your landscape; some would even say it has more impact than your plant choice!

Their are two primary kinds of mulch, natural wood and composite.  Natural wood mulches break down and add nutrients to soil, while composite mulches are most often chosen for playgrounds and walkways where you don't need water filtration and nutrients.

In addition to giving your yard that clean cut look, mulch helps regulate soil temperatures to help plants survive our extreme winters in the Midwest and not burn on those hot summer days. When installed properly, it can also help cut down on watering needs.  As long as it rains periodically, it may even eliminate the need to water altogether!

With a wide spectrum of colors and materials that mulch comes in, you're guaranteed to find a type that can really make your landscape pop to your desire. There are, however, materials that suit certain environments better and others that should be avoided at all costs due to toxicity to pets, so don't forget to read the fine print.

Mulch should be applied at a thickness of 3 to 5 inches initially and top dressed every other year to keep it looking fresh and to continue getting the amazing benefits it can supply: cuts watering costs, fresh clean look, helps plants thrive and many more.

Give us a call if you would like some help selecting the best mulch for your particular project or would like us to install your mulch for you. (612)-889-0179
